The Transportation Security Administration has some reminders for those heading to airports during the holidays. “People seem to forget some of the more common and routine steps that they need to take when packing for a flight or when they are going through a checkpoint, perhaps because they’re focused on being at their destination and not focusing on what needs to happen before getting there,” said TSA officer Christopher Kirchein of John F. Kennedy International Airport. “Travelers sometimes ignore the advice that we give them,” said TeaNeisha Barker, a TSA uniformed adviser. “We are providing guidance so that they get through the checkpoint as simply and conveniently as possible. Not every airport has the same technology, so listen to the guidance we are offering.” “Passengers forget that knives and other weapons are not allowed through our checkpoints. It’s shocking to see so many people with knives,” said TSA officer Aisha Hicks of Philadelphia International Airport. “Weapons of any kind are prohibited through a TSA checkpoint.” TSA officers shared this list of the common things that travelers forget and should remember when coming to a security checkpoint. Ten things that travelers need to remember when preparing to go through the security screening process: • Remember that you cannot bring bottles of water, energy drinks, juice, coffee, soda or any filled insulated reusable container through a security checkpoint. However, they can finish their beverage and bring the empty bottle or container with them. • Remember to bring your ID to the checkpoint. • Remember when TSA officers remind you to remove everything from your pockets that it does not only mean metallic items such as keys and mobile phones, but it means everything, including non-metallic items such as tissues, lip balm, breath mints, etc. • Remember that you cannot bring a firearm through a checkpoint. Instead, pack your unloaded firearm in a locked hard-sided case and declare it at your airline check-in counter and the airline will ensure it is transported in the belly of the plane where nobody has access to it. • Remember that you need to remove your shoes when getting screened and then end up barefoot on the floor. It’s probably a good idea to wear socks. • Remember that children 12 and under are allowed to travel through a TSA PreCheck screening lane with a parent who has TSA PreCheck on their boarding pass. In addition, don’t forget that children up to the age of 18 can also come into the TSA PreCheck lane with their parent if they are on the same airline reservation as their parent. • Remember that passengers that appear 12 and under or 75 and older do not need to remove their shoes and light jacket. • Remember, if you are putting a lock on your luggage, make sure it is a TSA compatible lock so that if TSA officers need to open your luggage, they can unlock it and relock it. If the lock is not TSA compliant, TSA officers who need to open your luggage will cut off the lock, rendering it useless. • Remember that you can bring medications through a security checkpoint, even liquid medication. Just let the TSA officer know that you have liquid medication with you so it can be screened separately. • Remember to get a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license sooner rather than later because REAL ID goes into effect on May 7.

Democratic congresswoman Katie Porter obtained a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend on Tuesday. She accused him of harassment , including alleging she had a sexually transmitted disease, forcing her to submit test results proving otherwise. In August 2023, Porter, a California Democrat and prominent political figure, ended her relationship with Julian Willis, citing struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues. Despite moving out of her home, Willis allegedly launched a campaign of harassment against Porter, her family and colleagues, threatening her reputation and safety, Politico reported. On November 26, Porter filed for a temporary restraining order in Orange County Superior Court, detailing over 1,000 attempts from Willis to harm her public image, including threats to report her to Child Protective Services. Willis also claimed that Porter had genital herpes, forcing her to submit test results to the court proving she did not have any STDs. Ultimately, a judge granted a temporary restraining order requiring Willis to stay away from Porter, her children and her workplace until a mid-December hearing later this year. Willis denies Porter's allegations, claiming that she is trying to prevent him from pursuing legal action and going public with his claims. Porter's legal team is expected to present further evidence at the December hearing. Hannah Kobayashi's last known movements as her family takes the search into their own hands By BETHAN SEXTON FOR DAILYMAIL.COM Published: 21:31 GMT, 22 November 2024 | Updated: 21:59 GMT, 22 November 2024 e-mail 4 View comments The search for missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi continued on Friday as her distraught family scoured Los Angeles for clues that could lead to her being found. Kobayashi, 30, vanished after she missed a connecting flight between her home in Maui and New York where she was due to visit an aunt. The missing woman landed in Los Angeles and was seen leaving LAX Airport and heading downtown on November 8. Her family say they received cryptic messages from her before she stopped contacting them altogether - behavior they describe as highly unusual. The family are frustrated with the pace of the official police investigation. They say the LAPD didn't contact them for 10 days after they initially reported her missing, and that they are the ones having to drive the search. Their desperation has driven them to Hollywood mediums and internet web sleuth groups. Last night, the family passed out flyers at a L.A. Lakers Game. November 8 Now, Hannah's sister Sydni is sharing a list of every sighting they have on record. Kobayashi landed at LAX airport at 9:53pm and was seen on airport surveillance footage disembarking the aircraft. She was due to take a connecting flight at 11pm, however she never made it. Missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi's sister has shared details of every last known sighting as her family continue their agonizing search She called her aunt Geordan Montalvo to explain she had missed the connection and promised to meet her in New York. She is then believed to have stayed the night at the airport before being spotted at various locations across LA. November 9 Kobayashi was spotted at The Grove shopping mall between midday and 3pm. She spent a considerable amount of time at Taschen Books, where she stopped to charge her phone. At 2:43 she snapped a picture and sent it to her aunt, before returning to the airport where she is believed to have spent the night. From there, she once again called Montalvo to tell her she was still trying to get to New York. November 10 On Sunday, two days after she landed, Kobayashi went back to The Grove. She appeared in the background of a video outside a Nike event featuring LeBron James at 3:30pm Kobayashi also shared a post on her Instagram from the event with an eye emoji as the caption. She was next spotted talking to a ticketing agent at LAX at around 5pm. Kobayashi, 30, vanished during a layover in Los Angeles while traveling from her home in Maui to New York and was spotted getting off her flight at LAX In a YouTube video, Hannah was seen in the background at an event in The Grove bookstore for Lakers player Lebron James Her final post was shared on November 11. It is understood she was attending an event in Los Angeles at the time A missing-persons report was filed by her family the same day amid what they described as uncharacteristic correspondence from Kobayashi. One of the messages reportedly said: 'Deep Hackers wiped my identity, stole all of my funds, & have had me on a mind f**k since Friday.' Kobayashi's mother, Brandi Yee, also reported sending her a text message asking if she made it to New York. She responded simply: 'Not yet.' Another early-morning text mentioned how she was in the midst of a 'spiritual awakening.' On a missing-persons poster sent out immediately after, police wrote: 'Prior to going missing, [Kobayashi] sent a message on November 10, mentioning feeling scared, and that someone might be trying to steal her money and identity. She hasn't been hard from since.' November 11 The next day, Kobayashi was spotted boarding an LAX Metro C line at Aviation/Century Station. She got on board at 9:02pm, before transferring to a different train at the Rosa Parks Station. Sydni said that it has been confirmed her sister was accompanied by someone for the duration of the journey. Kobayashi made several trips to The Grove shopping mall, including to this book store the say after she landed The missing woman's family have taken matters into their own hands and have been handing out flyers in the area where Kobayashi was last seen Kobayashi was finally seen leaving the Metro Pico Station with the unidentified person at 10:03pm. Latest update As of Thursday, the LAPD was yet to declare that Kobayashi has been abducted. The investigation is still being treated as a missing-persons case, a spokesperson confirmed. DailyMail.com revealed yesterday that detectives waited ten days before contacting the family for an interview. Sydni also slammed the lack of action and revealed her relatives were appealing to psychic mediums for help. In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, her aunt Larie Pidgeon said they are now fearing the worst. 'Our mind is now going to, you know, abduction and, I hate to say the word, but, you know, trafficked,' she said. They held a rally before the Lakers game Thursday afternoon, just a block from the station where Kobayashi was last seen Kobayashi was last seen in the company of an unidentified person but has not been declared as abducted by police 'We're doing the best that we can, but the family at this point is having to come to the reality that those things could be a possibility.' The LAPD, meanwhile, is still spearheading the probe, but is now being aided by the FBI, field office agents in the city told KHON Honolulu Wednesday. Statements given to the station by Pidgeon appeared to indicate Kobayashi is still with the person in the footage, whom has yet to be physically described. 'She's not alone, she's with an unidentified person,' said Pidgeon. 'And she also got off and at a, at a station that is,' she continued, before trailing off. 'It's not good and it terrified us, it brought her father to tears,' she concluded. She and others attended held a rally to pass out fliers before the Lakers game Thursday afternoon, just a block from the station where Kobayashi was last seen. Prior to her disappearance, a friend of Kobayashi's said she received bizarre messages talking about being scammed. 'I got tricked pretty much into giving away all my funds. For someone I thought I loved,' the messages read. They were seen at Metro Pico Station on November 11, before Kobayashi's phone was switched off Kobayashi, a photographer, is a resident of Haiku in Maui. She had been on her way to New York to photograph a DJ when she suddenly vanished The family also noted that the young artist's phone has been off since November 11. 'She texted her that she was scared and that she couldn’t come back home or something. It was just really weird texts,' Sydni said. She added that the messages 'did not sound like her' and wonders if it was Hannah who sent them. Kobayashi was on the same flight as her ex-boyfriend as the two had booked the trip before breaking up. However, they did not sit together during the journey and he has since been aiding police with the search. No. 7 Tennessee outscored UT Martin by 28 points in the second half in routing the visiting Skyhawks 78-35 on Friday afternoon in Knoxville. Chaz Lanier scored a game-high 18 points for the Volunteers (7-0), who expanded on a 35-20 halftime lead with a 43-15 second half. Felix Okpara had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, helping Tennessee command the paint along with Igor Milicic, who added nine points and 13 rebounds. Zakai Zeigler nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine assists. The Volunteers used their size to their advantage, outscoring UT Martin 36-10 in the paint and out rebounding the Skyhawks 49-24. That included 20 offensive rebounds for Tennessee, which led to 19 second-chance points. UT Martin (2-5) was cold coming out of the locker room after halftime, missing its first eight shots. Conversely, the Vols started the second half with a nine-point run to extend their lead to 24 points. The Vols never let the Skyhawks score consecutive baskets in the first half, holding UT Martin to 25 percent shooting (4 of 16) from beyond the arc and allowing a total of only three points from the starting five. For the game, guard Josue Grullon led UT Martin with 15 points. The leading scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference entering Friday at 18.2 points per game, Grullon has not started any game for head coach Jeremy Shulman. Most of the Skyhawks' points -- 28 of 35 -- came from their reserves. The starting five combined to score seven points -- six points from Matija Zuzic and a free throw for Lamine Niag. The starters went a combined 2 of 18 from the floor, while UT Martin as a team shot 22.6 percent (12 of 53) from the field. The Skyhawks made 5 of 7 free-throw attempts and made 18 turnovers. The Volunteers, who got 23 points off the bench, were 8-for-10 and had 11 turnovers. Tennessee improved to 6-0 all-time against UT Martin since 1993. --Field Level Media

Article content It’s 8:30 a.m. and some of the children coming into the Strathcona Community Centre for breakfast are tired, some are chirpy, but they are all hungry. They enter up a flight of stairs at the back of the centre and waiting for them are Bonnie Jarvis, who runs the breakfast program, and longtime breakfast volunteer Vuong My. Not only students come up those stairs. There are teachers and support workers, too, from the adjoining Lord Strathcona Elementary School, carrying large bags filled with today’s meal — three different kinds of cereal, cartons of milk, bananas and boiled eggs. They will take this food back to the school for their students to eat before classes begin. Each day, staff here prepare and provide as many as 270 grab-and-go breakfasts for Strathcona students. There are plenty of needy communities in this province, but then there is Strathcona. The proverbial most needy of all in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. “This breakfast program is very important for the community,” said Amy Weeks, the food security manager for the centre. “It’s grab-and-go breakfast because we don’t know who really needs a breakfast, so this de-stigmatizes it.” A communal breakfast was once served inside the community centre for parents and children, but that model was abandoned when the province ordered schools closed and people to isolate during the COVID pandemic. “This breakfast is essential for supporting the health and well-being of our students,” said Weeks. Half of the families living in the area are considered low-income, many living in two large social housing complexes nearby. Strathcona has the highest rate of child poverty in the city. Those families not in subsidized housing struggle with the financial instability caused by the rising cost of housing and food, said Weeks. Many families rely on income assistance, disability benefits, or low-paying jobs. “For many students, hunger is a significant and daily challenge,” she said. She estimated that 60 per cent of the school’s 500 students could be classified as vulnerable because of poverty. “The vulnerable student population we serve face a variety of interconnected challenges beyond hunger, ” she explained. “Many children come from single-parent households, or are being raised by grandparents or other extended family members, or are new to Canada and still adjusting to the language. ... Breakfast is a stabilizing anchor for these students. It’s where they are cared for and valued.” The community centre is asking The Vancouver Sun’s Adopt-A-School campaign for $35,000 to feed these children each morning. From September to November, a total of 13,726 breakfasts have been served. The menu varies each day and students from the school will come in and help prepare the next day’s meal as part of the centre’s Breakfast Buddies program. The average cost of a breakfast is $3 and a variety of items are offered on different days, such as banana muffins, pancakes, french toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, hash browns, egg bites, yogurt cups and fruit, as well as cereal and milk. First grade teacher Lourdes Friess was there filling a large shopping bag with cereal, milk, eggs and bananas. “This will keep my class going all day,” she said. There was enough in her bag to provide breakfast for her class and for snacks later in the day after lunch. “It’s really important for them,” she said. The Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund which administers Adopt-A-School is being asked for $2.9 million to support hundreds of schools in the province. Almost $2.2 million is being sought for food and clothing for hungry and impoverished children. All donations made to Adopt-A-School will be sent to schools. No administration fees are deducted from donations. To pay by credit card, call .Man City boss Guardiola held back as video emerges of angry altercation with fan
