The victory ended Getafe’s five-game winless run and lifted it into 15th place in the 20-team standings. Valladolid remained second to last. In the buildup to the match, Getafe sporting director Rubén Reyes described the game as a final but his team was lucky not to go behind as Valladolid created more of the early chances. However, the home side took control in the 69th minute when substitute Álvaro Rodríguez got the opener. Three minutes later, man of the match Allan Nyom made it 2-0. “There’s been a lot of games where we’ve run and fought but lost or drawn,” Nyom, the veteran Cameroon full back, said. “A game that reflects the effort we’ve put in in training is very welcome.” Adding to Valladolid’s woes, coach Paulo Pezzolano was sent off before halftime. The Uruguayan has the league’s worst disciplinary record, with seven yellow cards before Friday’s red. ___ AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer
Social Don't miss out on the headlines from Social. Followed categories will be added to My News. Billionaire Elon Musk has taken to his own social media platform X to slam the Albanese government’s Bill to ban social media for kids under 16. If passed, social media companies could be slapped with fines of up to $50m if they fail to do enough to verify a user’s age on their platforms. The world-first legislation, introduced into parliament on Thursday, would also create a legal definition of social media. But Mr Musk, who has been named by President-elect Donald Trump to head a new department of government efficiency, has weighed in saying it “seems like a backdoor way to control access to the internet by all Australians”. There has been broad bipartisan support for restricting minors’ access to social media for some time, with states and territories mulling their own bans. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has championed the Bill to keep children under 16 off social media. Independent MP Zoe Daniel warned on Thursday morning that it could unintentionally make platforms “less safe”. “My biggest concern about it really is that it doesn’t substantively change what the platforms need to be doing on their platforms, and there may be an unintended consequence that the platforms actually become less safe,” she told the ABC. Social media companies could be slapped with fines of up to $50m under new laws introduced by the Albanese government. Picture: NewsWire / Aaron Francis Independent MP Zoe Daniel says the social media ban could unintentionally make social media ‘less safe’. Picture: NewsWire / Martin Ollman “If you were to create a system where the platforms have to take responsibility, mitigate risk and be transparent about how they’re doing that and what tools they’re using, then that sort of provides, potentially, an environment where everyone can be in a safe space. “What we’re doing is saying, ‘Well, we’re going to lock everyone under 16 out, and then everyone else can do whatever they want in there’. “And also, we know that some people under 16 will get in. I don’t think that that’s really a good pathway to go down.” Meanwhile, Snapchat is expected to be captured in the definition of social media under Australian law. Snapchat lets users exchange photos, videos and messages rather than offering a posting board-type feature, such as Facebook, Instagram or X There was some uncertainty around whether Snapchat could escape the proposed ban by arguing it was a messaging service and not a social media platform. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has likened the ban to age restrictions on alcohol, acknowledging people can get around it but arguing that it sets a standard. The laws would come into force 12 months after passing. The eSafety commissioner would be responsible for enforcing the legislation. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had another limited practice Thursday as the team readies for Saturday’s game against the Broncos. Burrow, though, does not have an injury designation. He is listed with injuries to his right wrist and a knee. Burrow has been on the injury report with the wrist injury all season after undergoing surgery on it last season. He said earlier this week that the wrist no longer bothers him. “I don’t think about it a ton right now,” Burrow said, via Jay Morrison of USA Today. “I think we’re pretty much past it. There are still arm care and things that I do to help with that, but we’re in a good spot.” Burrow is a leading candidate for comeback player of the year with his 4,229 passing yards leading the league as do his 39 touchdown passes.

Ohio State Buckeyes center Aaron Bradshaw is being investigated for a potential "domestic incident," according to The Columbus Dispatch , which has led to him being absent from team activities. This accusation would explain a rather open-ended statement by the team this past Friday before Ohio State played Campbell. "Aaron Bradshaw is not currently participating in team activities," the statement read. "The university is following its established process. He’s not expected to play in the team’s contest against Green Bay on Monday as well, with no timeline on when he could rejoin the Buckeyes on the court. 2025 MEN'S MARCH MADNESS ODDS: DUKE BECOMES NEW FAVORITE The Columbus Dispatch reports that no charges have been filed against Bradshaw, though an incident allegedly occurred at his off-campus apartment this past week. Bradshaw has started the four games he’s played for Ohio State this year, which is his first with the program after transferring from Kentucky after his freshman year in 2023. Bradshaw was the top center prospect coming out of Camden High School in New Jersey in 2023, ultimately choosing Kentucky to play under head coach John Calipari. However, after a surprise early exit in the NCAA tournament earlier this year, Calipari left to coach Arkansas in a shocking move given his history with the Wildcats. It led to multiple transfers with Mark Pope taking over in Kentucky. Despite speculation that Bradshaw would return to his home state to play for Rutgers after they landed stars Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, he chose the Buckeyes.
