The TV star has appeared on the BBC antiques auction reality show from 2017 - appearing as an expert who gives advice and tips to the civilian contestants. The show was cancelled by the BBC in 2020 after 17 years on the air - but old episodes remain available to watch via BBC iPlater. Over the weekend, Michael alarmed fans on social media by sharing a string of videos of himself speaking into the camera of his phone from a hospital bed. In one video, the star said: "It's been a week now and I've been able to take fluids for two days. I was left without any water at all and have become badly dehydrated. "For the last three days, I've been given a litre of water, which has been insufficient to stop me being dehydrated. The gaps between being given water have been 15 hours, 17 hours with no water, 12 hours with no water and currently 15 hours with no water intravenous." He added: "I'm dying of thirst in a British NHS hospital and no one seems prepared to do anything about it. I want to say the nursing staff, the junior doctors here, have been the saving grace. They all want to help but they can't. The senior management and the senior doctors, who I never see, always refuse water, always refuse treatment. "One told me yesterday If I don't buck up my ideas, in three weeks I'll never be able to walk again. Of course the junior staff told me that was nonsense, but it's symptomatic of the treatment in this place. All the staff are busting their gut to help you, the management and the senior surgeons are not." He then updated fans further with a written clarification, where he wrote that he was in his "fifth bed bound week," before adding a new post on Sunday, saying that he feels "happier" and "more hopeful." In the video, he said: "Hydration at last, Radio 3 blaring and slightly happier, slightly more hopeful. Thank you for everybody who either came or sent a message. Hopefully the way back starts now." Those that had been following his ordeal through his video updates were relieved to see Michael looking in better health in his most recent video post. In an encouraging post, one fan wrote: "You look a lot better, Michael. I hope you can get out soon. You seem like a fine bloke with brilliant expertise & one of the best Twitter presences going. Please DM if I can do anything for you when you’re out. A care package can be mailed, even if I’m not local." X-Bow to Receive Additional Funding for Expansion of DoD Contract for Hypersonic Solid Rocket Motor DevelopmentFeatured photo: Eileen Rafferty, founder of Errigal Studios The rugged beauty of Donegal has been a magnet for high-profile film projects in recent years, and international interest continues to grow. If you build it, they will come – that’s the ethos of the film industry which has been developing top quality resources here for established and emerging media companies. The proof is in the pudding. Malin Head was handpicked for scenes in Star Wars : The Last Jedi , Liam Neeson starred in the explosive Netflix action drama In the Land of Saints and Sinner s that shines a light on south west Donegal. “Donegal is stunning. Stunning in landscapes, in nature, in buildings, in culture, in talent and the film industry has been taking notice of this,” says Eileen Rafferty co-Director of The Bothy and co-founder of Errigal Studios , a state of the art virtual production studio coming to Donegal in 2025. A native of Donegal, Eileen returned home after many years as a producer in London. When asked what has been the recipe for attracting so many productions to Donegal, Eileen says: “Donegal has so much to offer as a filming destination, our way of life here is very desirable and the people are welcoming and friendly. While the quantity of productions in recent years has been increasing, the consistent push and marketing of the area by Aideen at the Film Office for many years is a key foundation stone to building the industry here.” Donegal Film Officer Aideen Doherty, producer Eileen Rafferty, actor and writer Dorothy Duffy will feature in a conversation panel later this month as part of the Foyle Film Festival . Together with Producer John Peto, they will delve into building capacity for Donegal and the North West to develop regional production. Donegal, according to Eileen, is a front-runner for productions offering not only amazing locations but experienced crew and top-class facilities. ‘In the Land of Saints and Sinners’ star Liam Neeson on location at the Silver Strand, Malin Beg, Glencolmcille. “The numbers of experienced crew members returning and relocating to Donegal is definitely increasing and with Screen Ireland and the National talent Academies committed to training we are also seeing a strong cohort of new entrants and trainees into the industry. There is also a growing network of talented writers and producers in the region,” Eileen says. She hopes the vibrant creative community will continue to grow. “The important thing now is to keep the productions coming to allow these professionals to live and work in their chosen industry here in Donegal.” We have more releases to look forward to in 2025 including Cry From The Sea filmed in Inishowen, as well as Four Letters of Love, starring Pierce Brosnan which was filmed around Glenveagh. Pierce Brosnan Four Letters of Love. Photo: Christopher Barr High-profile projects like these not only showcase the region’s stunning landscapes but also have a significant impact on the local economy. As Eileen points out, “The beauty and ruggedness of Donegal speaks for itself on screen.” “The press and marketing that A-list stars bring when they are filming here is also a great advertising tool for Donegal. During production, projects such as those mentioned have a multiplier effect for the local area. They need accommodation, catering, construction materials & skills, wardrobe and prop requirements, electricians, runners, extras, entertainment are all plugged into the local community for months at a time.” Crá – the new Irish language series filmed on location in Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal. First, the report alleged that “Zeta has formed ‘two-way’ contracts with third party consent farms wherein the Company simultaneously acts as both a supplier and a buyer of consumer data,” allowing the Company to “flatter reported revenue growth” and indicating possible “round-tripping” of revenue. Second, the report alleged that Zeta’s collects the majority of its customer data from a network of “sham websites that hoodwink millions of consumers each month into handing their data over to Zeta under false pretenses.” For example, the report alleged the Company and its subsidiaries operate a number of fake job boards which are designed to trick individuals into submitting personal data under the pretense of job applications. The report further alleged that the Company’s “most valuable data” comes from these predatory websites, dubbed consent farms, which are “responsible for almost the entirety of the Company’s growth.” On this news, the Company’s stock price fell $10.46, or 37.07%, to close at $17.76 per share on November 13, 2024. Plaintiff alleges that during the class period, defendants failed to disclose that: (1) Zeta used two-way contracts to artificially inflate financial results; (2) Zeta engaged in round trip transactions to artificially inflate financial results; (3) Zeta utilized predatory consent farms to collect user data; and (4) that these consent farms have driven almost the entirety of Zeta’s growth. This is the largest study to date tracking snoring in children from elementary school through their mid-teen years and it provides an important update to parents struggling with what medical measures to take to help manage snoring in their children. Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIN Email Adolescents who snore frequently were more likely to exhibit behavior problems such as inattention, rule-breaking, and aggression, but they do not have any decline in their cognitive abilities, according to a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM). This is the largest study to date tracking snoring in children from elementary school through their mid-teen years and it provides an important update to parents struggling with what medical measures to take to help manage snoring in their children. The findings were recently published in JAMA Network Open . To conduct the study, researchers analyzed the parent-reported snoring data, cognitive, and behavioral test outcomes of nearly 12,000 children enrolled in the national Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study, the largest study of brain development and child health in the U.S. Children were enrolled in the study at ages 9-10 and had annual visits through age 15 to assess their snoring frequency, cognitive abilities, and behavioral issues. The researchers found that adolescents who snore three times or more per week were more likely to have behavioral problems such as inattentiveness in class, social difficulties with friendships or adequately expressing their thoughts and emotions. However, these teens who snored did not exhibit any differences in their reading and language abilities, nor any difference on memory or cognitive processing tests compared to their peers who did not snore. The researchers also found that snoring rates declined as children grew older even without any treatment. "Adolescence is a period when the brain's resilience withstands adverse inputs, which could explain why we are seeing the preservation of cognition in light of habitual snoring," said Amal Isaiah, MD, PhD, MBA, study co-author, Chief of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology at UMSOM and faculty at the Institute for Health Computing. "If a child is experiencing behavioral issues, it may be time to consult a pediatrician about a sleep study perhaps even before an evaluation for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We hope that these findings will further distinguish the behavioral versus cognitive effects of snoring to improve our approaches to treatment." As many as 15 percent of American children have some form of sleep disordered breathing and a significant percentage of these children are misdiagnosed as having ADHD and treated unnecessarily with stimulant medications. Dr. Isaiah's findings expand upon his previous research linking frequent snoring to concerning brain changes and behavioral problems in children, with long-term follow-up of these children into their teen years. Frequent snoring in children is often associated with poor health outcomes including poor classroom performance, problem behaviors, and lower quality of life. While clinical associations advocate for proactive treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the lack of available data from the population presents challenges in weighing the appropriate management options such as surgery to remove the adenoids and tonsils (adenotonsillectomy) and other non-surgical options. "Dr. Isaiah utilized sophisticated data analytics to examine over one million data points, assessing the impact of sleep-disordered breathing on the developing brains of children through adolescence," said Mark T. Gladwin, MD, who is the John Z. and Akiko K. Bowers Distinguished Professor and Dean of UMSOM, and Vice President for Medical Affairs at University of Maryland, Baltimore."With novel computational and AI tools now available at the UM Institute for Health Computing, calculations that once took months can now be completed in a matter of days." The research team plans to further utilize AI capabilities at UM Institute for Health Computing to process larger datasets and examine the causal relationship between snoring and brain outcomes . The study was supported by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the various funders of the ABCD study. UMSOM is one of 21 research sites involved in the ABCD study and faculty, including Dr. Isaiah, are co-investigators on this ongoing research. Journal Reference : Cite This Page :(TNS) — The University at Albany is using federal funding to create scholarships for top-end students interested in its nanotechnology science and engineering programs that focus on training workers and researchers for the computer chip industry. The Semiconductor and Microelectronics Leadership Program will provide $5,000 scholarships to "exceptional" high school or transfer students who enroll in UAlbany's College of Nanotechnology, Science and Engineering, or CNSE. The funding is coming through the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub, or NORDTECH, a $40 million consortium of academics, private sector chip companies and the Department of Defense. NORDTECH was established in 2023 under the $52 billion CHIPS and Science Act and its Microelectronics Commons program, which funds regional research and development programs to support semiconductor manufacturing for the private and government sectors. "As a founding member of NORDTECH we are excited to offer this scholarship opportunity to attract undergraduate students to microelectronics-focused majors, and to introduce those students to career opportunities within the field of semiconductors and microelectronics," said Nathaniel Cady, CNSE's associate dean for research and a professor of nanoscale science and engineering. "This workforce development activity is part of a larger initiative within the college to prepare students for work in the industry, to gain hands-on experience with microelectronics, chip fabrication, and electronic design, and to provide research and educational experiences that foster student interest in semiconductors." Students invited to participate get the one-time $5,000 scholarship and are invited to participate in special monthly activities to expose them to the semiconductor industry and work opportunities. The students can major in nanoscale science, nanoscale engineering or electrical and computer engineering.

AI investor focus arrives to Best Buy ( BBY ). Best Buy is set to report its third quarter results Tuesday before market open as demand for electronics continues to stabilize post pandemic. Wall Street expects revenue to come in at $9.63 billion, a touch lower compared to the third quarter of last year, while adjusted earnings are estimated to be flat year over year at $1.29 per share. Same-store sales are expected to fall nearly 1% for the quarter, compared to the 7.30% drop seen this time last year. Analysts anticipate appliance sales will continue to drag down results, followed by entertainment and consumer electronics. Computing and mobile phones are likely to see a gain. "We expect computing (notebooks & tablets) & services to partly offset softness in appliances and home theater," Bank of America analyst Robby Ohmes wrote in a note to clients. Preliminary credit and debit card data "suggests a comparable sales growth slowdown in October... as value-conscious consumers may have chosen to delay purchases and wait for Holiday sales," Ohmes added. In the prior quarterly results, Best Buy CEO Corie Barry said customers are "seeking value and sales events" but are "willing to spend on high-price-point products" for new technology. Best Buy shares are up nearly 19% year-to-date, trailing behind the S&P 500's ( ^GSPC ) nearly 25% gain. New products, particularly surrounding AI, could boost growth. "The company should see a return to growth in the first half of 2025, following many consecutive quarters of negative comps, as newness and the replacement cycle kicks in, especially for products purchased in 2019-2020," Telsey Advisory Group Joe Feldman wrote in a note to clients. Copilot+ PCs, which are capable of accessing advanced AI models, launched earlier this year with roughly 40 products. In the previous quarter, Barry said the company is the exclusive retailer for about 40% of those new PCs. He previously said in the second half of 2024, Best Buy will see a much larger percentage of computers and tablets with AI capabilities, and more AI products available at various price points. Here's what Wall Street expects Best Buy to post for the third quarter, compared to a year ago, per Bloomberg consensus data: Adjusted earnings per share: $1.29 versus $1.29 Net sales: $9.63 billion, versus $9.76 billion Same-store sales growth overall: -0.92%, versus -7.30% Total US same-store sales growth: -0.74%, versus -7.30% Sales growth for: Appliances: -7.50%, versus -15.10% Entertainment: -4.00%, versus 20.60% Consumer electronics: -2.72%, versus -9.50% Computing and mobile phones: + 3.50%, versus -8.30% Services: +5.83%, versus 6.90% International: -0.57%, versus -1.90% Following its second quarter earnings results, the company updated its full-year outlook. It expected revenue to come in between $41.3 billion and $41.9 billion, compared to the previously expected range of $41.3 billion to $42.6 billion. Same-store sales are projected to decline 3% to 1.5%, compared to a previously expected decline of 3.5% to flat. The company also anticipated better-than-expected profitability. It expected adjusted earnings per share to come in between $6.10 and $6.35, higher than the prior guidance of $5.75 to $6.20. — Brooke DiPalma is a senior reporter for Yahoo Finance. What is Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe? Its Features and Applications 12-20-2024 07:06 PM CET | Associations & Organizations Press release from: ABNewswire Stainless steel seamless pipe is a long steel material with a hollow section and no seams around it. The thicker the wall thickness of the product, the more economical and practical it is. The thinner the wall thickness, the processing cost will increase significantly. The process of this product determines its limited performance. Generally, seamless steel pipes have low precision: uneven wall thickness, low brightness of the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe, high cost of sizing, and pitting and black spots on the inner and outer surfaces that are difficult to remove; its detection and Shaping must be processed offline. Therefore, it reflects its superiority in terms of high pressure, high strength, and mechanical structural materials.
