Venu Holding Corporation Reports Its Third Quarter Results Ending September 30, 2024Is Enron back? If it’s a joke, some former employees aren’t laughingThe Gophers football program is on the verge of signing the state’s top-rated high school prospect to headline its recruiting class for a second straight year. The U hasn’t done that since 2017-18. Robbinsdale Cooper linebacker Emmanuel Karmo is set to join Minnesota when the early signing period opens Wednesday, just like Esko safety Koi Perich did a year ago. The U fought off fellow Big Ten schools in both recruiting battles. ADVERTISEMENT “It feels amazing,” Karmo told the Pioneer Press this week. “I’ve waited a long time for this.” Karmo, a four-star prospect, said his other top contenders were Wisconsin, Nebraska and, to a lesser degree, Ohio State. His more than 15 scholarship offers also included Southern California, Penn State, Oregon, with some interest from Michigan. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound athlete, who is also the U’s overall No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, played nearly everywhere in high school and committed to Minnesota in April, but that didn’t stop others from pursuing him and seeing if he would be willing to visit their campuses. “When coaches come in, they just see his build and his film speaks for itself,” said Robbinsdale Cooper head coach Tony Patterson. “The recruiting process was a little bit stressful for him. He wanted to make sure that he was making the right decision and not really basing it on when the big-time schools come in. “Some kids can get glamor and glitz in their eyes, but I think he did it his way. He spoke with his family. He made the best decision for him and his family to stay home in Minnesota.” Karmo is close with his large family, especially his mother, and was looking for a close-knit connection in a college. The Gophers weren’t among the first to offer Karmo, but he found a bond with U defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere. “He showed how invested he was in his family, and also Emmanuel as a person,” Patterson said. “So, I think that’s what drew him to Minnesota.” ADVERTISEMENT Karmo played four years on varsity and started the final three for the Class 5A school a few miles west of Minneapolis. He played everywhere — safety (as an underclassman) and linebacker/edge rusher (as upperclassman), wide receiver, tight end, running back, wildcat quarterback and punter. In 10 games as a senior, Karmo had five rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns, along with 64 tackles, two sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. Other teams ran away from his side of the field, but he worked to track ball carriers down. The Hawks finished 8-2, but fell short of the state tournament. The Gophers see Karmo’s skills best translating at linebacker in college. “They told me I would be useful on third-down situations and stuff like that,” Karmo said. “They want me to come in and play early.” The Gophers nearly had the top-rated in-state recruit sign with the U in three straight classes, but Cooper defensive lineman Jaxon Howard went to Louisiana State for a year before transferring back to Minnesota. He played 118 snaps for the Gophers as a redshirt freshman this fall. Howard gave Karmo the space to make his own college decision but was instrumental in showing Karmo how to lead in high school. “He just passed down the torch when he left (Cooper),” Karmo said. “I took over and now I’m on the way.” ADVERTISEMENT Karmo, who spent part of his youth in St. Louis, said he had a “pretty rocky start” at Cooper, but began to lead by example during his junior year. “He’s invested in Cooper,” Patterson said. “... His play on the field spoke for itself, but it’s the off-the-field things that, sometimes, they get unnoticed. He’s encouraging guys, giving (car) rides to guys, making sure that the young guys understand what it means to be a Cooper Hawk.” Patterson sees Karmo as a no-nonsense worker with twitchy athleticism. “Emmanuel is a special guy. He’s one of those kids that coaches kind of just salivate over,” Patterson said. “He has all the intangibles: great GPA, smart player, size, frame. He has the ability to get even bigger, faster, stronger in college, under their weight program. “He’s one of those guys that just show up and go to work, no complaints about anything. He doesn’t have kind of a look-at-me attitude; he wants a team to succeed. This year I saw that, putting the team on his back and trying to do everything in his power to have us reach that next level.” ______________________________________________________ This story was written by one of our partner news agencies. Burt, best known as the “bastard” saltwater croc from Crocodile Dundee , died over the weekend . Long live Burt. Along with a knife, there’d be no Crocodile Dundee without crocodiles, and Burt both appeared in the 1986 film and also reportedly inspired the prop croc that nearly gobbled up unwitting reporter Sue Charlton (played by Linda Kozlowski) in one critical scene. Burt “passed away peacefully” at the Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin, Australia, the herpetarium and aquarium wrote on Facebook , estimating that he lived well into his 90s. Named after the late actor Burt Reynolds and weighing in at roughly 1,500 pounds, Burt drives a central conflict in the Australian-American action-comedy flick. The croc rises from murky waters just as Charlton wades in for a cooling dip and a drink, when he (or rather, the prop purporting to be him) suddenly snatches the canteen around her neck with great, big, pointy teeth. In the nick of time, the voyeur Mick Dundee (played by Paul Hogan) leaps into frame and mercilessly deals Burt a deathblow with his iconic knife. The incident trauma-bonds the characters and concludes with an embrace. In Dundee’s arms, Charlton asks, “is it dead?” Dundee quips back, “well if it isn’t, I’m gonna have a hell of a job skinning the bastard.” Burt’s apparent on-screen disposition wasn’t just fiction, according to the Crocosaurus Cove post. The aquarium described him as a “fiery,” “fierce,” and “challenging” croc who came to be a well-known “ambassador for crocodile education.” The site also called him “a confirmed bachelor—an attitude he made clear during his earlier years at a crocodile farm.” Burt first arrived at the farm in the 1980s, after being captured from the Reynolds River in Australia’s Northern Territory, according to the social media post. The largest reptiles alive today, saltwater crocodiles are also native to Eastern India and Southeast Asia . They’re not listed as endangered, though National Geographic notes that the species’ “reputation as a man-eater” puts “pressure on the population.” It stands to reason that this is due at least in part to films such as Crocodile Dundee , as experts have linked Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (1975) to harmful outcomes for sharks . On Facebook, Crocosaurus Cove visitors shared their own colorful memories of Burt and wished the powerful reptile well in the great beyond. “Hope the rivers are full of tasty fish where you are now,” said one commenter warmly. “Hope he WD be stuffed n not incinerated,” offered another.Vanderpump Rules celeb James Kennedy has pledged to turn over a new leaf following his recent arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence. The 32-year-old Vanderpump Rules personality found himself in hot water after cops responded to a late-night call about a couple's dispute on Tuesday, December 10. Following his release on bail, the reality star —real name James Kennedy Georgiou—took to Instagram to declare his intention to reform, stating: "I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones. Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward." Ally Lewber breaks silence after boyfriend James Kennedy's arrest over alleged domestic abuse Vanderpump Rules finally gets a new update on future of show after summer's axe Earlier, a Burbank Police Department representative informed The Hollywood Reporter: "On December 10, 2024, at about 11:30 pm, Burbank Police were dispatched to a residence regarding an argument between a man and a woman. The investigation determined it was a domestic incident, leading to Mr. Georgiou's arrest." The spokesperson added: "Mr. Georgiou was booked for misdemeanor domestic violence and later posted bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Burbank City Attorney's office." Currently, it is understood that Kennedy has not faced any charges as the formal charges are under review - a representative for the celebrity has been approached for additional commentary. Kennedy has been a part of the Bravo series since its second season started in 2013, reports the Mirror . Reports earlier this year indicated that the entire cast, except for lead star Lisa Vanderpump, would be replaced for the upcoming 12th season. Kennedy is romantically involved with his Vanderpump Rules co-star Ally Lewber and has had past connections with other women from the show. In an Instagram post on Saturday, Lewber expressed her gratitude for the support she received, stating, "Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support and for checking in on me. I'm okay and taking the time I need right now." Kristen Doute, an ex-girlfriend of Kennedy from 2013 to 2015, drew attention with her reaction to his arrest news earlier this month. She reposted a news article about his arrest on social media with a succinct caption to the headline, simply writing: "Finally". The Vanderpump Rules crew is reeling from the recent arrest of James Kennedy on domestic violence charges. Rachel Leviss, his ex-girlfriend and one-time fiancée, didn't hold back her thoughts through her legal team. A statement released to the Daily Mail by attorneys Mark Geragos and Bryan Freedman read: "We are aware of James Kennedy's recent arrest for domestic violence. This news is, unfortunately, not surprising." The Mirror has reached out to Kennedy's rep for a statement.
Kayla Nicole is opening up about her high-profile breakup with Travis Kelce — and the impact it's had on her life. In a sneak peek of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test , the 33-year-old influencer got candid about the emotional toll of her breakup with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35. "Going through a public breakup, it's been overwhelming," Nicole said in a voiceover, wiping away tears in the preview for the Fox reality series. When asked by her co-stars who her ex was, the sports broadcaster quietly confirmed it was Kelce. For those out of the loop, the pair started dating in 2017 after the football star had been "stalking" Nicole on Instagram . "I was just stalking her and then finally on New Year's, she gave in," he explained to E! News in February 2022. "And, you know, New Year new me. She just shot her shot, jumped in my DMs and the rest is history." Their relationship, which lasted five years on and off, ended for good in 2022. Since the split, the YouTuber has faced relentless social media trolling , especially after her former flame made his romance with Taylor Swift public last September. "I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos didn't impact me — it does," she admitted on the Unapologetically Angel podcast — hosted by WNBA player Angel Reese — in October. Nicole continued, "Even to this day, you can go to my most recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless, why I'll never be a talented person, I have no career." The Pepperdine University grad also addressed rumors surrounding her relationship with Kelce, including speculation that she paid for half of everything. "That was never an issue in our relationship," she said on the podcast at the time. "I don't even know why that became a thing." Kelce similarly dismissed the financial gossip during an interview with The Pivot Podcast in January 2023, calling it "crazy" and urging fans, "Don't buy into that s***." Despite the challenges, Nicole says she's focusing on moving forward. In an Instagram post last year, she encouraged her followers to protect their peace. "Preserve your heart even when they try to quantify your character and test your boundaries," she wrote. "You do not have to respond. Because there is power in your silence." Catch Nicole on the new season of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test on Wednesday, January 8.Ellie Goulding has expressed her deep admiration for the efforts of homelessness charity Crisis while participating in their Christmas services. The 37 year old singer spent time at a London hotel this Monday, where she welcomed guests alongside the charity, served up warm refreshments, dished out food and engaged in games. With the festive period in full swing, Crisis is braced for twice as many referrals as there are available spaces in their accommodations. At the launch event for Crisis’s Christmas campaign, Goulding shared her sentiments with the PA news agency: "I’m so in awe of Crisis and the volunteers I meet every time I come here. They’ve been doing this for such a long time, and I’ve been supporting for a long time. "I’ve always cared about homelessness since I was really, really young. It was just something that always really affected me. “If I saw people sleeping rough, it just really triggered me and affected me, and so I always said to myself, if I was ever in a position where I could help and support and get involved then I would, which is why I’ve sort of been dedicated to it. "And it’s not like it’s getting any better, homelessness is still on the rise. There’s over 300,000 people homeless without a proper home this Christmas. "So we need more people to get involved with Crisis, and not just at Christmas but throughout the year as well. We need more volunteers, more people to get involved, and just more people to care." Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, has taken a significant step to provide support for those in need by taking over three hotels in London. This initiative will offer over 570 individuals their own room, companionship, and access to numerous Crisis services aimed at helping them establish a stable life after homelessness. Guests at the hotel will benefit from hot meals and health and wellbeing services, including access to GPs, opticians, and hairdressers, as well as professional advice regarding benefits and housing options. The charity highlighted an alarming increase in homelessness, reporting that it had risen by 42% this year. Recent figures reveal a concerning trend with 4,780 individuals observed sleeping rough on the streets of London between July and September—a significant jump of nearly one-fifth (18%) compared to the previous year. Ellie Goulding, the chart-topping artist known for hits like "Love Me Like You Do" and a dedicated supporter of Crisis for over a decade, added: "I’m here to help, I’m here to do whatever is required of me. "I come every year, and I’ve just been serving some tea, coffee, and later on I’ll be doing some other bits and pieces, various things. "Everyone’s working really hard, lots of incredible volunteers here, lots of friendly faces. It’s a very warm and cosy and safe environment, and it’s always a pleasure to be here." Sam Phillips, star of the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, and TV fitness guru Joe Wicks were also among those dedicating their time to volunteer at the hotel alongside Goulding. Reflecting on the country's situation, Phillips told PA: "I just feel very passionately that homelessness is a crisis in this country, and more should be done. "Thankfully, the government is doing more now with social housing, but I think ultimately we’d like to see homelessness eradicated from the country." Joe Wicks has spoken out about the plight of the homeless, expressing his strong belief that nobody should be without a home, especially during the festive season. Volunteering with Crisis for the first time, Wicks said: "In this day and age, we shouldn’t have people sleeping rough on the streets. It’s freezing cold, people need to be looked after. "I think naturally, as an empath, I care about people and we’ve been raising money for Crisis ourselves as a business, The Body Coach, this month. So I was invited along to be a volunteer. "I’m going to be serving some food, and just interacting I think more than anything, just socialising with people and giving them a chance to talk. “This is a great campaign that people are actually getting a chance to sleep here in this hotel for two weeks, and a warm bed, shower, food, and it’s just wonderful to see how much it’s going to have an impact on them.”
Thanksgiving dinner in Kansas doesn’t need to be rehash of November election rifts( ) is a digital healthcare company focusing on developing technology and services that could aid healthcare professionals in delivering positive patient outcomes. The company has witnessed healthy buying this year, with its stock price rising by 84.4%. Its solid quarterly performances and continued acquisitions have boosted its financials. Let’s assess whether WELL Health offers buying opportunities at these levels by looking at its third-quarter earnings and growth prospects. WELL Health’s third-quarter performance Last month, WELL Health reported an impressive third-quarter performance, with its growing by 27% to $251.7 million. Organic growth of 23% and acquisitions over the last four quarters drove its sales, while the divestments offset some of the growth. It had around 1.48 million patient visits and 2.24 patient interactions during the quarter, representing a year-over-year growth of 41% across both metrics. Amid the topline growth, its gross profits grew by 19%. However, its adjusted gross margin contracted by 150 basis points to 44.6% amid increased contributions from lower-margin recruiting revenue from the acquisition of CarePlus. The digital healthcare company’s adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) grew 16% to $32.7 million. However, the adjusted EBITDA to WELL’s shareholders rose by 10% to $25.1 million. Its adjusted net income stood at $13 million, slightly improving from $12.9 million in the previous year’s quarter. The company generated $16.2 million of adjusted free cash flow during the quarter, supported by its comprehensive cost-cutting program, which it implemented earlier this year. Now, let’s look at its growth prospects. WELL Health’s growth prospects Given their accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and convenience, more people are adopting digital healthcare services. Technological advancements and improving internet penetration have also contributed to the rising popularity of virtual services, thus expanding the addressable market for WELL Health. Meanwhile, the company continues to invest in advancing AI (artificial intelligence)-powered tech enablement for care providers, which could strengthen its position in the digital healthcare sector. The company’s acquisition pipeline looks solid, with 17 signed LOIs (letters of intent) and definitive agreements. Also, the company’s cost-cutting program would continue to improve its . Moreover, WELL Health has rebranded its subsidiary WELL Provider Solutions Group as WELLSTAR Technologies. This pure-play software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology company offers high-quality technology and services to around 37,000 healthcare providers to improve patient care. The company is also working on spinning out WELLSTAR, thus providing investors with an attractive investment opportunity in healthcare technology SaaS. It expects to complete the spinoff by the end of next year. WELLSTAR recently acquired two healthcare-focused technology companies, which could contribute $15 million in annualized revenue, thus raising its 2025 pro forma revenue to $70 million. Also, its gross margins could remain above 80% while its EBITDA margin would be around 20%. Considering all these factors, I believe WELL Health’s growth prospects look healthy. Investors’ takeaway Despite the substantial increase in its stock price, WELL Health’s valuation looks attractive. Its next-12-month and NTM multiples stand at 1.6 and 24.2, respectively. Given its solid growth prospects, improving profitability, and attractive valuation, I expect WELL Health to deliver superior returns over the next three years.
Mathematicians Casually Discovered 2 New Infinities( MENAFN - Daily News Egypt) High-ranking officials, experts and scholars convened in Armenia's capital Yerevan on December 12 and 13 for the 5th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide. The forum, titled“Strengthening the Effectiveness of international mechanisms for early warning and Early Response to the Risk of genocide and Other Atrocity Crimes,” focused on the early warning signs and risk factors of genocide, the role of small states in prevention, and cases of egregious human rights violations. The forum included panel discussions on genocide and mass crime prevention, gaps in international legal and political frameworks and international crimes. Participants also discussed mechanisms for early alerts of mass crimes. President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khatchaturyan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan delivered opening remarks at the forum's opening. A message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was also read at the opening ceremony. President Khatchaturyan stated,“Since its independence and accession to the United Nations, the Republic of Armenia, as the state of the descendants of a people who endured the ordeal of the Armenian Genocide, has undertaken a leading role in international multilateral platforms in advancing issues of genocide prevention, punishment, and commemoration of victims.” Foreign Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of protecting national, racial and ethnic groups within the international human rights system. He said,“At the same time, it is clear that the only guarantee of success in this regard is the close international cooperation, including between UN structures, regional organizations, member states, non-governmental organisations and other actors.” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' message stressed the need to strengthen preventative measures, including education and countering misinformation that can fuel hate speech and genocidal intent. His message also said,“We must respect and implement decisions of the International Court of Justice on the application of the Convention.” On December 13, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan delivered closing remarks. He thanked the speakers for their substantial contributions, highlighting the importance of leadership from like-minded small states in promoting genocide prevention. Kostanyan added,“We are the international community, and we are the ones who should apply the international law.” The forum brought together representatives from states, international organisations, including current and former UN officials, regional arrangements, national human rights institutions, and civil society, including the representatives of international NGOs, media practitioners, academic experts, researchers and scholars. The Yerevan Declaration of Joint Action, adopted at the Fourth Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide in 2022, served as a guiding document for the forum. The declaration reaffirmed the significance of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted by the General Assembly in 1948. It also recognised the role of the UN Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide and the responsibility of the UN Security Council for maintaining international peace and security. The declaration also addressed concerns about the use of new technologies. It recognised both the potential of digital tools and artificial intelligence as early warning mechanisms and the security risks they pose in the spread of hate speech and extremist ideologies. The declaration expressed deep concern about online hate speech, cyberbullying and the spread of disinformation and misinformation, particularly on social media. It emphasised the need for a safe digital space where human rights are respected without discrimination and encouraged tech companies to enhance content moderation. The declaration further highlighted the need for citizens to have media literacy, and for governments to adopt social media regulations to address hate speech. It also recognised that reliable digital evidence is important to ensure accountability for genocide and other crimes. The declaration concluded with a commitment to build resilient and inclusive societies where new technologies advance peace, security, human rights and sustainable development, and contribute to preventing atrocity crimes.
