Investing.com -- As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the market landscape, investors are questioning whether the AI rally, previously concentrated in a few key tech stocks, is now broadening to encompass a wider range of industries. Recent analysis suggests that the market may indeed be entering a new phase. According to a note by Capital Economics, while the initial AI boom was centered on semiconductor companies and cloud computing providers, it now observes a more diffuse impact, with applications extending into sectors like healthcare, finance, and industrial automation. This broader rally reflects a shift as businesses across various industries begin integrating AI technologies into their operations. The report highlights healthcare firms leveraging AI for diagnostics, financial institutions deploying AI for risk management, and industrial companies using automation to improve efficiency. However, the pace of adoption varies significantly. "The AI narrative is expanding, but the speed at which companies can translate potential into profitability is uneven," Capital Economics noted. Sectors like retail and energy, for instance, are slower to adopt AI due to challenges in infrastructure and capital allocation. Despite these disparities, the report underscores that market enthusiasm remains strong, driven by sustained investment in AI startups and government initiatives supporting innovation. Whether this broadening of the AI rally sustains over the long term will depend on technological breakthroughs and macroeconomic conditions. For now, the AI rally appears poised to extend beyond its initial frontrunners, opening new opportunities for diverse sectors and signaling a potentially transformative phase for global markets. Read unlimited articles for free today: Already have an account? Aaron Rodgers celebrated his 41st birthday with the news he’s still the New York Jets’ starting quarterback. That’s hardly a surprise gift, but it ends some of the speculation that has been growing in recent days from some fans and media who were clamoring for change. “We have great belief in Aaron, we really do,” interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Monday. “And we think he gives us the best opportunity to win.” That’s why the Jets aren’t turning to Tyrod Taylor at this point. Or perhaps even giving practice squad QB Adrian Martinez, the UFL’s MVP last season, a long look. The locker room, from all indications, has remained positive despite the firings of coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas a month later. And there’s still belief from his teammates that Rodgers can help them pull out some victories as the season hits the home stretch. “Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers,” linebacker Jamien Sherwood said. “At the end of the day, he’s still a Hall of Famer to all of us.” But victories have been few and far between for the struggling Jets, who fell to 3-9 on Sunday with a 26-21 loss to Seattle. It was New York’s third straight defeat and eighth in nine games. And it put the Jets perilously closer to the seemingly inevitable reality that they’ll miss the postseason for the 14th straight year, the NFL’s longest active drought. Not exactly the results the Jets and their frustrated fans expected when New York acquired Rodgers from Green Bay last year. “There are 11 guys on the field,” Rodgers said after the game. “Sometimes it’s my fault. Definitely multiple times today. And then the details aren’t there in some other spots, too.” The four-time NFL MVP has dealt with a few injuries to his left leg after coming off the torn Achilles tendon that limited him to four snaps in his Jets debut last year. That, Ulbrich said, has contributed to the struggles of Rodgers and the offense. But Rodgers headed into the game Sunday off the injury report for the first time since Week 4. Some of his scrambles provided proof he was feeling much better. But his overall play was still hurting. Rodgers was 21 of 39 for 185 yards with two touchdown passes and had an interception returned 92 yards for a score by Leonard Williams. Rodgers also failed to get the Jets in position for a winning score in the closing minutes, something he has been unable to do regularly this season. Despite all that, Ulbrich insists he doesn’t have any questions about whether Rodgers can still do the job. “I don’t,” he said, “because I see enough evidence on tape of him still being capable of playing high level football for us.” What’s working Special teams. The Jets got a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Kene Nwangwu, who was elevated from the practice squad before the game, and he also forced a fumble on a kickoff. New York signed him to the active roster Monday. The Seahawks fumbled three times on kickoffs, with the Jets recovering two, including one by kicker Anders Carlson. Quinnen Williams also blocked an extra point. About the only thing that didn’t go right for the Jets’ special teams unit was Carlson having an extra point of his own blocked. What needs help Everything else. The offense finally had a fast start with three touchdowns in New York’s first four drives, but the Jets didn’t score again after that. The defense had some stops but was called for penalties in some big spots, helping extend drives for Seattle. Stock up LT Olu Fashanu. In his second start in place of the injured Tyron Smith, Fashanu excelled by allowing no pressures in 42 pass blocking snaps, according to Next Gen Stats. The first-rounder out of Penn State is likely to start at left tackle the rest of the season. “The more ops to play, the better he gets,” Ulbrich said. “He just builds on each performance and in both phases, both in the run game and pass protection, so, just so excited about the future this guy has.” Stock down Rodgers. He has thrown for 2,627 yards and 19 touchdowns with eight interceptions, but his 6.3 yards-per-pass attempt is the lowest of his career as a starter. Rodgers also has had the ball five times with a chance to lead the Jets to a victory in their final possession. They’re 0-5 in those situations. Injuries CB Sauce Gardner (hamstring) and RT Morgan Moses (shoulder) left the game with injuries and Ulbrich had no immediate updates on either. ... LB C.J. Mosley is getting closer to returning from the herniated disk in his neck that has sidelined him for five games. Key number Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. 12 — That’s how many accepted penalties the Jets had against the Seahawks, with four coming on Seattle’s go-ahead touchdown drive. They actually had a fifth after the score for unsportsmanlike conduct, but it was offset by the same call on Seattle. What’s next Rodgers and the Jets look to end their three-game skid when they travel to Miami to face the AFC East rival Dolphins next Sunday. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL Advertisement AdvertisementNoneDonald Trump has clinched Time Magazine’s prestigious Person of the Year award for the second time. The former US president first earned the title after his shocking 2016 election win. Now he adds another feather to his cap following his triumphant political comeback in 2024. DONALD TRUMP AND TIME MAGAZINE In a statement, Time’s Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs described Trump as a leader who “marshalled a comeback of historic proportions.” Jacobs also said that Trump “drove a once-in-a-generation political realignment.” The award recognises individuals or movements that have had the biggest influence on global events, for better or worse, according to BBC. Trump’s impact, according to Jacobs, is undeniable. DONALD TRUMP RINGS IN THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE To mark the occasion, the 78-year-old Republican rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Surrounded by his family and buoyed by chants of “U-S-A,” he savoured the moment. “This is an honour,” Trump said. “Time Magazine has captured the spirit of what we’ve achieved this year.” Trump’s 2024 election victory was nothing short of extraordinary. After a controversial first term and multiple legal battles, few thought he could make a political return, according to Sky News. DONALD TRUMP’S POLITICAL COMEBACK However, his campaign rallied young male voters, turning key swing states red and delivering him a decisive popular vote win. For the first time in US history, the presidency will be held by a convicted felon. Earlier this year, Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of fraud in New York. “It’s history in the making,” Time wrote of Trump’s victory. “He has reshaped American politics and redefined what’s possible.” Trump has wasted no time outlining his plans for his second term, according to CNN. HIS ACTION PLAN Speaking to Time, he reiterated promises to reform immigration, deport millions. He plans to deliver what he called “an economy the likes of which nobody’s ever seen.” He also vowed to slash taxes significantly. South African political analysts are watching Trump’s policies closely. Many believe his economic vision could influence global markets, including trade with South Africa. “His policies may reshape how the US engages with developing economies,” one expert noted. Time’s decision was not without controversy. OTHER CANDIDATES Other candidates included Vice-President Kamala Harris , Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and the Princess of Wales. Critics questioned why Time chose a figure as divisive as Trump. However, the magazine stood by its choice, citing its tradition of spotlighting those who shape the world, for better or worse. DONALD TRUMP’S WIN Trump’s reaction was unsurprising. He called the award a “huge honour,” contrasting it with past criticisms of the magazine. He famously complained in 2015 when the title went to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel instead of him. Trump’s win also highlights his growing ties with influential figures. ELON MUSK’S NEW POSITION Elon Musk, now a close ally, is set to lead a new advisory board called the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk’s involvement signals potential technological and economic shifts that may ripple across the world, including in South Africa. Love him or loathe him, Trump continues to dominate headlines. His ability to defy expectations has solidified his place in history—and now, on Time Magazine’s cover once more. At the stock exchange, Trump summed it up: “This is just the beginning.” WHAT DO YOU THINK OF DONALD TRUMP BEING NAMED TIME’S PERSON OF THE YEAR AGAIN? NoneThe crash happened at 10.45am in crowded downtown Delray Beach, multiple news outlets reported. The Brightline train was stopped on the tracks, its front destroyed, about a block away from the Delray Beach fire rescue truck, its ladder ripped off and strewn in the grass several yards away, The Sun-Sentinel newspaper reported. The Delray Beach Fire Rescue said in a social media post that three Delray Beach firefighters were in stable condition at a hospital. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue took 12 people from the train to the hospital with minor injuries. Emmanuel Amaral rushed to the scene on his golf cart after hearing a loud crash and screeching train brakes from where he was having breakfast a couple of blocks away. He saw firefighters climbing out of the window of their damaged truck and pulling injured colleagues away from the tracks. One of their helmets came to rest several hundred feet away from the crash. “The front of that train is completely smashed, and there was even some of the parts to the fire truck stuck in the front of the train, but it split the car right in half. It split the fire truck right in half, and the debris was everywhere,” Mr Amaral said. Brightline officials did not immediately comment on the crash. A spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board said it was still gathering information about the crash and had not decided yet whether it will investigate. The NTSB is already investigating two crashes involving Brightline’s high-speed trains that killed three people early this year at the same crossing along the railroad’s route between Miami and Orlando. More than 100 people have died after being hit by trains since Brightline began operations in July 2017 – giving the railroad the worst death rate in the United States. But most of those deaths have been either suicides, pedestrians who tried to run across the tracks ahead of a train or drivers who went around crossing gates instead of waiting for a train to pass. Brightline has not been found to be at fault in those previous deaths.Firefighters and passengers hurt after train hits fire truck on crossing

Kolkata, Dec 14 (IANS): West Bengal Minister for Municipal Affairs & Urban Development Firhad Hakim on Saturday compared the “majority” and “minority” communities in the country which created a controversy. Addressing a programme at the state-run auditorium in Kolkata, on Saturday, Hakim said that the current “minority” in West Bengal might become “majority” in the coming days. “In West Bengal, we are currently 33 per cent. Nationally we are 17 per cent. Hence we are addressed as minorities. But we do not consider ourselves as minorities. By the grace of God someday we might also become majorities. We will achieve this with the blessing of the almighty,” the minister said on Saturday. BJP Information Technology cell chief and the party central observer for West Bengal Amit Malviya said that after revealing his true intentions by describing non-Muslims as “unfortunate” and endorsing Dawat-e-Islam’s efforts to convert Hindus to Islam, Hakim has now claimed that West Bengal and the rest of India will soon have a Muslim majority. “Hakim envisions a future where Muslims will no longer rely on peaceful protests or marches but will take justice into their own hands—potentially hinting at Sharia law. This aligns with remarks from Trinamool Chopra MLA, who previously cited Islamic scriptures to justify an incident, where a woman was publicly whipped,” Malviya wrote on X. West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar also questioned why the other constituents of the opposition INDIA Bloc are silent and refraining from condemning such a statement by Firhad Hakim. “This is not just a hate speech. This is a blueprint for creating a Bangladesh-like situation in India,” said Majumdar. Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh, while speaking to IANS, refrained from making any comment on this issue saying that he is not aware of the contest in which Hakim said these. “It will be unfair to isolate a particular portion of the speech and highlight it,” Ghosh said.

Jarrod Bowen held Antonio’s number nine shirt aloft after scoring the winner in support of the Hammers striker, who is recovering after a horror car crash on Saturday. Boss Julen Lopetegui said: “He is not in his best moment but he kept his humour. It was a special moment for us. “I think we have a lot of reason to win matches but this was one reason more. The shirts will be signed by the players, including Antonio, and auctioned off with the proceeds going to the NHS and Air Ambulances UK. Tomas Soucek headed West Ham into the lead and held up nine fingers to a TV camera. The Czech midfielder told Sky Sports: “He’s been here since I came here. He is really my favourite. It was a really tough week for him, his family and us.” Matt Doherty equalised for Wolves, and boss Gary O’Neil felt they should have had two penalties for fouls on Goncalo Guedes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, both of which were checked by VAR. But Bowen’s winner – O’Neil believed there was a foul in the build-up – condemned Wolves to a 10th defeat of the season and a third in a row. While under-pressure Lopetegui may have earned a stay of execution, O’Neil’s future as Wolves manager is now in serious doubt. “A lot of things went against us but ultimately we have not found a way to turn the game in our favour,” he said. “But the players showed they are still fighting for me, for the fans and the group. “Where does this leave me? In the same place I was. I’m aware of the noise. But if anyone expected this to be easy – I’m happy to be judged on results but it should be done in context. “Whenever this journey ends with Wolves I’ll be proud of it.” There was an acrimonious end to the match as captains Bowen and Mario Lemina scuffled after the final whistle, with the Wolves midfielder angrily shoving people including one of his own coaches, Shaun Derry. “I just went to shake his hand after the game,” Bowen said. “He didn’t want to shake my hand, two captains together just to say ‘well done’ after the game. “I know it’s difficult when you lose. I’ve been on the end of that situation.” O’Neil added: “Mario is calm now. He’s a passionate guy and something was said that upset him. “The instinct of the staff was to make sure he didn’t get into trouble, but he took some calming down.”

HUNTSVILLE, Dec. 02, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Serina Therapeutics, Inc. (“Serina”) (NYSE American: SER), a clinical-stage biotechnology company, today announced a $10 million equity financing with strategic shareholder JuvVentures (UK) Limited. The transaction provides Serina with funding to continue advancing SER-252 (POZ-apomorphine), enabled by its proprietary POZ Platform TM drug optimization technology, into a Phase 1 clinical trial in advanced Parkinson's disease patients in the second half of 2025. Under the terms of the funding agreement, Serina will issue one million shares of common stock at $10 per share, a 120% premium to the closing price on November 26, 2024. The financing will be delivered in two tranches: the first $5.0 million tranche was received November 27, 2024, and the second $5.0 million tranche by January 31, 2025. Serina filed a Form 8-K with the SEC on December 2, 2024 that provides additional information regarding this transaction. About SER-252 (POZ-apomorphine) SER 252 is an investigational apomorphine therapy developed with Serina’s POZ platform and designed to provide continuous dopaminergic stimulation (CDS). CDS has been shown to reduce the severity of levodopa-related motor complications (dyskinesia) and enable greater on time, with reduced off time, in advanced Parkinson’s patients. SER-252 leverages strategic partner Enable Injections’ enFuse TM wearable drug delivery platform to enhance patient comfort and convenience, providing CDS to patients via an easy-to-administer, long-acting subcutaneous injection without skin reactions. About the POZ Platform TM Serina’s proprietary POZ technology is based on a synthetic, water soluble, low viscosity polymer called poly(2-oxazoline). Serina’s POZ technology is engineered to provide greater control in drug loading and more precision in the rate of release of attached drugs delivered via subcutaneous injection. The therapeutic agents in Serina’s product candidates are typically well-understood and marketed drugs that are effective but are limited by pharmacokinetic profiles that can include toxicity, side effects and short half-life. Serina believes that by using POZ technology, drugs with narrow therapeutic windows can be designed to maintain more desirable and stable levels in the blood. Serina’s POZ platform delivery technology has potential for use across a broad range of payloads and indications. Serina intends to advance additional applications of the POZ platform via out-licensing, co-development, or other partnership arrangements, including the non-exclusive license agreement with Pfizer, Inc. to use Serina’s POZ polymer technology for use in lipid nanoparticle drug (LNP) delivery formulations. About Serina Therapeutics Serina is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a pipeline of wholly owned drug product candidates to treat neurological diseases and other indications. Serina’s POZ Platform TM provides the potential to improve the integrated efficacy and safety profile of multiple modalities including small molecules, RNA-based therapeutics and antibody-based drug conjugates (ADCs). Serina is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama on the campus of the HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology. For more information, please visit https://serinatherapeutics.com .
