IRISH Olympian Rhys McClenaghan has been named as one of the final celebrities competing on season eight of Dancing With The Stars. The gymnast is ready to swap the pommel horse for the dance floor in just over a week on January 5, 2025. Here's everything you need to know about the phenomenal gymnast. Rhys was born on July 21, 1999 - making him 25-years-old. He is from Newtownards in Co Down, son of Tracy and Dann and has one older brother named Elliot. He first trained in gymnastics at age six in Rathgael Gymnastics Club in the nearby town of Bangor, until his coach was made redundant in 2018. His coach's redundancy meant he was forced to train in his back garden before he relocated to Dublin. To make the move down to Dublin he received funding and accommodation from Gymnastics Ireland and Sport Ireland to train in their institute in Abbotstown. Since first finding his love for the sport at age six, Rhys has gone on to compete internationally for both Ireland and Northern Ireland . His first major win was in 2016 at the British Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He won a bronze medal, coming third to Olympians Louis Smith and Max Whitlock . Rhys' chosen discipline in gymnastics is the pommel horse and in 2018 he won a gold medal on the pommel horse for Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games. He also won the European championship in the same year. In 2019 he was the first Irish gymnast to qualify for a world championships final, taking home a bronze medal. He went on to take home the gold twice across two outings in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Rhys is the first Irish artistic gymnast ever to win world championship gold. Leading up to the 2022 Common Wealth games, Rhys was told by the International Gymnastics Foundation that he was banned from competing for Northern Ireland. The controversial decision was made because Rhys had competed in international competitions for Ireland. The move was so contentious it lead to politicians of the time to criticise the ban including then Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. In August 2024, just a few days after his 25th birthday in late July, the culmination of Rhys's hard work paid off when he placed first with a score of 15 at the Paris Olympics, taking home a gold medal for Ireland. Speaking about his win and the support he received in Paris, Rhys said: "It was so great just to see everybody. "I haven't seen them in three weeks so it was good just to hug my parents, hug my girlfriend and celebrate together." Rhys often shares photos of his long-term girlfriend, Emilee Corr, on social media. The cute couple have been together for five years. Emilee is also a gymnast. Emilee comes from Bangor in Co. Down, she is an acrobatic gymnast and is a champion representing both Ireland and Northern Ireland. The 25-year-old works as a gymnastics coach at Rathgael Gymnastics and Tumbling Club. She joined her boyfriend in Paris to show him support as he collected his first gold medal. The Base Shelf Prospectus and the Prospectus Supplement are accessible on SEDAR+ and on EDGAR LONDON, ON , Dec. 18, 2024 /PRNewswire/ - VersaBank VBNK VBNK (the "Bank") today announced that it has successfully completed its previously announced public offering of common shares (the "Offering") at a price to the public of US$13.25 (approximately CAD$18.95 ) per share. UCF will attempt to shake off a dreadful offensive performance when it collides with LSU on Sunday afternoon in the third-place game of the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The Knights (4-1) couldn't get anything going against No. 19 Wisconsin on Friday, going 21-for-62 from the field (33.9 percent) and just 2-for-17 from 3-point range (11.8 percent) en route to an 86-70 loss. Jordan Ivy-Curry finished with 13 points while Keyshawn Hall and Dior Johnson added 11 apiece for UCF, which never led and fell behind by as many as 23. Knights coach Johnny Dawkins is hoping that his team's struggles don't carry over into the meeting with the Tigers (4-1). "We have to do better offensively," Dawkins said. "We have to space the floor better. We have to balance our offense between our perimeter and our bigs. Those are things that we didn't do consistently (on Friday)." LSU also needs to clean things up after committing 15 turnovers in a 74-63 setback against Pitt on Friday. Tigers forward Jalen Reed doesn't believe giving the ball away will be a lingering issue. "I feel like a lot of our turnovers were more on us than them," Reed said. "I feel like a lot of the turnovers were careless, but we're a better team than that and I feel like we'll take care of the ball better moving forward." Reed and Vyctorius Miller each posted 14 points in the loss to the Panthers, with Reed also hauling in seven rebounds. Cam Carter chipped in 11 points. Carter is putting up a team-leading 16.4 points per game. Jordan Sears (12.0 points per game), Reed (11.0) and Miller (10.2) also have scoring averages in double figures. Ivy-Curry (16.8 points per game), Hall (16.2) and Darius Johnson (13.0) have been leading the way for UCF. Sunday marks the first-ever meeting between the Knights and Tigers. --Field Level Media2024: A Milestone Year for Democracy in J&K, First Popular Government Established in UT.Micron Earnings: Down But Not Out, Why I'm Doubling Down

Valerie Bertinelli didn't know how she would "get through" her divorce. The 64-year-old actress split from Tom Vitale, 61, in 2022 after more than a decade of marriage and took to social media on Saturday (23.11.24) to mark her "two years of freedom" since she was declared legally single. She shared a quote on Instagram that read: "I didn't know how I was going to get through it, but knew, somehow she would." Alongside the image, she wrote: "Today marks two years of freedom. "Two years of walking through self-doubt and doing my best to get to the other side. Two years of knowing that I didn’t deserve to tolerate the intolerable. "Two years of working through shame and self-loathing. (Still working on that part, long tail that) "Two years of working to find my true self." Valerie - who cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind her divorce - had a brief relationship with Mike Goodnough following the end of her marriage and thanked him for allowing her to "dip [her] toe" back into the world of dating as she looked back on the "traumas" and "demons" she has had to work through. She added: "Two years of eventually dipping my toe in and feeling love again. (Thank you, Mike ) "Two years of confronting past demons and traumas and doing my best to work through them. "I want to be the best, most authentic version of myself heading into this last chapter of my life. I am learning that until I love myself and accept myself, all of me, my dark and light sides, I can never give someone else the love and emotional vulnerability that they need and deserve. You must give it to yourself first so that you can share it. Whoo boy. I’m workin on it "I’m so grateful to my friends and family for being with me through all of it. And @therealhoarse, thank you for being such a big part of my growth this year. I’m grateful for our experience and I’m so grateful I met you. "And to all of you in my online community, I’m so grateful for you. I’m grateful for your feedback. I’m grateful for your compassion. Thank you." The former 'One Day at a Time' star - who was initially married to late rock star Eddie van Halen from 1981 until 2007 and has Wolfgang,33, with him - concluded her post by reminding others going through a similar situation that things will "get better" eventually. "Most importantly, I want you to know that if you’re struggling right now, I’ve been there and some days I can still be there but I want you to know it does get better. I promise you. It gets better. Some days will still be hard and challenging, but on other days, the light will shine brighter and you will feel it."Published 5:40 pm Friday, November 22, 2024 By Data Skrive The Portland Trail Blazers (6-9) are keeping their eye on five players on the injury report, including Jerami Grant, ahead of their Saturday, November 23 game against the Houston Rockets (11-5) at Toyota Center. LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Tyrese Hunter scored 17 of his 26 points after halftime to lead Memphis to a 99-97 overtime win against two-time defending national champion and second-ranked UConn on Monday in the first round of the Maui Invitational . Hunter shot 7 of 10 from 3-point range for the Tigers (5-0), who were 12 of 22 from beyond at the arc as a team. PJ Haggerty had 22 points and five assists, Colby Rogers had 19 points and Dain Dainja scored 14. Tarris Reed Jr. had 22 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for the Huskies (4-1). Alex Karaban had 19 points and six assists, and Jaylin Stewart scored 16. Memphis led by as many as 13 with about four minutes left in regulation, but UConn chipped away and eventually tied it on Solo Ball’s 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining. Memphis: The Tigers ranked second nationally in field goal percentage going into the game and shot it at a 54.7% clip. UConn: The Huskies saw their string of 17 consecutive wins dating back to February come to an end. The teams were tied at 92 with less than a minute remaining in overtime when UConn coach Dan Hurley was assessed a technical foul for his displeasure with an over-the-back call against Liam McNeeley. PJ Carter hit four straight free throws — two for the tech and the other pair for the personal foul — to give Memphis a 96-92 lead with 40.3 seconds to play. UConn had three players foul out. Memphis attempted 40 free throws and made 29 of them. Memphis will play the winner of Colorado-Michigan State on Tuesday in the second round of the invitational. NoneNew Delhi : After a video of former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu surfaced in which he described his wife's treatment for her breast cancer as "starving the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar", Tata Memorial Hospital doctors on Saturday warned that diet alone is no cure for the disease, which requires a range of medical interventions. Oncologists at Tata Memorial Trust, in a post shared on X, said: "Diet alone is not a cure for cancer. While it plays a crucial role in supporting treatment and improving outcomes, cancer cure typically requires medical interventions like surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Nutraceuticals and dietary changes can enhance the effectiveness of these treatments by targeting cancer pathways and improving the patient’s overall health. However, claims of curing cancer through diet alone lack scientific validation. Treatment plans should integrate diet as a complementary approach rather than a standalone solution, tailored to the individual’s cancer type and overall condition." Sidhu in a video, widely circulated on social media, had said that his wife starved the cancer by not eating dairy products and sugar and consumed haldi (turmeric) and neem which helped cure her "incurable" cancer. He said she ate her first meal of the day at 10 a.m. and the last meal of the day at 6.30 p.m. To this, the Tata Memorial doctors said: "These statements have no high-quality evidence to support them. While research is ongoing for some of these products, there is no clinical data currently to recommend their use as anti-cancer agents. We urge the public to not delay their treatment by following unproven remedies, but rather to consult a doctor, preferably a cancer specialist, if they have any symptoms of cancer. Cancer is curable if detected early and proven cancer treatments include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy." At least 262 oncologists (present and past, from Tata Memorial Hospital) signed the statement. “Make this go viral. We have to keep fighting misinformation,” the Tata Memorial said.
